FCC Ámbito, subsidiary of FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente, has renewed the contract for cleaning and maintenance of the Metro Bilbao infrastructure for the for the next 10 years and an order book value worth over €7 million. With this important contract, FCC Ámbito consolidates the expansion of its environmental services activities for the industrial and tertiary sector in the Basque Country, and thus completes its offer in waste management, by-product recovery and soil decontamination, activities in which it is a leading company.

The scope of the work, carried out mostly at night, includes the cleaning and maintenance of technical rooms, substations, tunnels, station track yards, various enclosures and ancillary elements, such as pumping wells, ventilation shafts, drainage grilles, sewers, pits in stations and workshops, as well as the collection and management of water and the maintenance of biological filters. 

FCC Ámbito has been providing this service to Metro de Bilbao uninterruptedly since 1999 and boasts seven operators, three of them qualified as track pilots, and as one of the most relevant technical means, a railway cleaning machine built with its own design specifically for this contract.

FCC Ámbito is the subsidiary of FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente specialised in the comprehensive management of industrial and commercial waste, recovery of by-products and soil decontamination. It boasts a total of 39 treatment centres in Spain and Portugal, with over 69 processing lines that guarantee the functionality of the facilities.
