Houston renews its trust in FCC Environmental Services for the management of its biosolid waste
- This award represents a milestone for the company as it is the second renewal of FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente's first municipal contract in the USA, awarded ten years ago.
Houston City Council renews its trust in FCC Environmental Services, subsidiary of FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente in the United States, with the award of the contract for the management of all biosolids waste produced by the city's wastewater treatment system. The new service is set for up to five years, with a total value of up to $50 million (€47.7 million) and will involve an investment of nearly $6 million (€5.7 million).
This award represents a significant milestone for the company as it is the second renewal of FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente's first municipal contract in the USA, awarded ten years ago in 2014, and thus highlights the city of Houston's trust in the company's commitment and quality of services.
In order to serve all the facilities of the city's wastewater treatment system, which service 2.3 million residents and generate approximately 100,000 tonnes of waste annually, the company employs around 20 people and boasts a fleet of 23 trucks, as well as 40 end-dump trailers and 4 vacuum trailers.
“FCC Environmental Services is honored to continue servicing the great City of Houston, and this is not an opportunity that we take for granted,” said Leon Brooks, general manager of the company’s Houston Bio-solids Services division, who has been working with FCC Environmental Services since the beginning of the original contract.
FCC Environmental Services is an industry leader in end-to-end waste management and recycling in the United States and serves more than 12 million people with a fleet of 1,000 vehicles and a workforce of 2,000 people. The company is present in seven states: California, Texas, Florida, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota and North Carolina.
FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente is the company within the FCC Group that has been providing municipal services and comprehensive waste management for more than 120 years, and currently serves over 67 million people in 5,400 municipalities around the world.
