FCC MEDIO AMBIENTE PROVIDES SEWAGE EQUIPMENT TO CITIES AFFECTED BY THE DANA

In the last few days, the municipalities affected by the torrential rain (DANA in Spanish, Isolated High-Level Depression) floods in the Valencian Community have highlighted the importance of cleaning the sewerage network before the mud solidifies and clogs the sanitation system. In response to this need, FCC Medio Ambiente, in collaboration with local councils all over Spain, has mobilised 13 mixed sewerage teams of different capacities to pump and suction sludge with 26 volunteers, in addition to the 10 teams of the same type already in service since last week. That makes a total of 23 sewer teams from the Barcelona Capital and Balearic Islands, Castilla-León and Extremadura, Andalucía I, Andalucía II, Aragón-La Rioja, Vizcaya, Madrid, Murcia-Almería, Canary Islands, Guipúzcoa-Navarra and Cataluña I branches of FCC Medio Ambiente.

The lorries were received yesterday in various affected towns in the province of Valencia, such as Catarroja and Algemesí, and are in addition to the resources that FCC Medio Ambiente has been providing in collaboration with the city councils where it works. As of last week, there were 191 volunteers and 157 vehicles, machinery and specific equipment, which exceeded 10,000 hours of work.

FCC Medio Ambiente wishes to expressly acknowledge the altruism of its volunteer workers, without whom this aid would not be possible, and to highlight its gratitude to all the city councils that have collaborated. The company continues to work so that the affected municipalities and citizens can return to normality as soon as possible.
