FCC Environment UK, subsidiary of FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente in the United Kingdom, has signed an extension of the contract for the management of the Household Waste Recycling Centre and Transfer Station for Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire Councils. FCC Environment has been providing this service since 2015 and the extension will see the contract prolonged to 2030, with an estimated value of around £44 million (€52 million).

The contract covers the operations of the 13 household waste centres across Hull and East Riding as well as three waste transfer stations in Carnaby, Goole and Wilmington. The extension includes a commitment to the ongoing development and delivery of reuse operations across the region in partnership with Dove House, which in the last year contributed to the reuse of over 276 tonnes of material, 2,306 tonnes of reuse since first opening in 2015. 

The extension will enable the Councils to fully understand the implications of the government’s emerging Resources and Waste Strategy, prior to commencement of a future procurement for long term service and facility development beyond 2030.
