FCC ámbito develops a new landfill site for hazardous waste at ECODEAL (Chamusca, Portugal)
This centre, which has been in operation since 2008, manages and has a capacity to treat a total of 200,000 tonnes of hazardous waste per year for the company ECODEAL, in which FCC ámbito is a majority shareholder.
The new landfill site implements the best technology currently available for this type of facility, geared towards better protecting the land and minimising the volume of leachate generated.
Mr Carlos Martins, State Secretary for the Environment, and Mr Joel Marques, Chairman of the Municipal Council of Chamusca, as well as several members of the Chamusca Municipal Assembly, attended the official opening ceremony of the site.
With this extension, ECODEAL increases the capacity of its facilities to properly manage waste that could not be used in the recovery process and that is previously subjected to different treatments, depending on its characteristics, to reduce any harm.
